Eligibility Criteria
Citizenship and Marital Status:
Unmarried male citizens of Pakistan.
Age not exceeding 20 years as of 31 December 2024. Candidates from FATA, Gilgit-Baltistan, AJK, and Balochistan can avail of a one-year age relaxation, making the maximum age limit 21 years as of 31 December 2024.
Academic Qualifications:
• Must have passed F.Sc Pre-Engineering or A-Level with a combination of Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics, securing at least 55% marks.
• O/A Level candidates must submit an equivalence certificate with their application.
• F.Sc/A-Level Part-II appearing candidates with at least 60% marks in Part-I can also apply. They must provide a Hope Certificate from the head of their respective institutions. However, failing to attain 55% marks in F.Sc after providing the Hope Certificate will result in disqualification at any stage of the selection process or even during training.
Training and Scholarships
Cadets will undergo two years of residential training at PMA, which equips them with the necessary skills and knowledge for a successful maritime career. The Ministry of Maritime Affairs sponsors 33 need-based scholarships, distributed as follows:
• Balochistan: 15 scholarships
• KPK: 6 scholarships
• Punjab: 6 scholarships
• Sindh Rural: 3 scholarships
• Sindh Urban: 3 scholarships
Selection Procedure
Entrance Test:
Conducted at various centers including Abbottabad, Gwadar, Karachi, Lahore, Multan, Muzaffarabad (AJK), Peshawar, Quetta, Rawalpindi, and Sukkur through hired testing agencies.
Minimum 50% marks required to qualify.
Medical Examination:
Conducted at designated Army/Navy hospitals for shortlisted candidates.
Physical Efficiency Test (PET):
Standards:
• Running: One Mile (1.6 Km) in 08 minutes
• Push-ups: 15 repetitions in 02 minutes
• Sit-ups: 15 repetitions in 02 minutes
• Chin-ups: 02 repetitions in 02 minutes
Final Selection:
Based on merit, which includes F.Sc marks, entrance test marks, medical examination, PET, and final interview.
Application Process
Prospectus and application forms can be downloaded from the PMA website. Submit the completed application form through courier along with a pay order/bank draft of Rs. 3,500/- in favor of Pakistan Marine Academy, Karachi (NBP, PMA Branch Code-0239). Self Finance Scheme (SFS) applicants need to submit an additional pay order/bank draft of Rs. 300,000/-. SFS fee will be refunded if the candidate is selected on open merit or does not meet PMA’s eligibility criteria.
