The University of Health Sciences (UHS) Lahore has released good news for the students planning to apply for MBBS and BDS four ampere programs session 2024-2025. As per the recent directions, the UHS has therefore decided to postpone the application schedule which was to commence on October 21, 2024. This decision complies with the series of legal directives issued by the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PM&DC) to adhere to judicial orders in the country.
This delay was first mentioned to the public by UHS through advertisement in major newspapers on 13 ^{th}, 16 ^{th}, and 17 ^{th} of October in the year 2024, when they posted on the original schedules. But the situation changed right after the PM&DC issued their new directive on October 18, 2024, and because of that, UHS Lahore’s timetable has been altered. The directive of the PM&DC was issued in response to recent judgments of even the Sindh High Court and Islamabad High Court. More particularly the Sindh High Court cases (CP Nos. D-4850, D-4732, D-4737, & D-4758 of 2024) as well the Islamabad High Court Writ Petition No. 2942 of 2024 delayed the timelines for admissions.
It has put a wait in plans for all public and private medical and dental colleges in Punjab and would force would-be students to change their strategies. A new and revised schedule for the completion of the house jobs has also been arranged by the UHS which will make sure the directions of PM&DC will be announced in the coming days. As the new schedule is still unknown, applicants are encouraged to regularly check official UHS resources so as not to lose any important information.
This is seeing that the PM&DC has recently issued a directive in this regard as the need to be fair and legally free while offering admissions across the medical education institutions within Pakistan. These changes may however be considered by students and other stakeholders as time wastage in self and other’s disguises; it should however, be understood that the act of regulation has its inherent merits that ensure transparency and fairness more particularly in medical and dental college admission processes.
In this case, the students and the guardians are advised to keenly follow any announcements from UHS. This will mean that checking the official websites or any reputable news source will be a great way of finding out what has changed. The UHS also reiterates its dedication to clear and efficient admissions procedures and intends to resolve any issues deriving from this delay in respective updates.
To recap, the delay may prove to be completely unforeseen, yet, UHS & PM&DC still do not compromise with the quality and integrity of the medical and dental admissions process. Current and prospective students are encouraged to make good use of this extra time to prepare their application donkeys to the finest detail and to be in readiness for the new application window whenever it is opened again.
